Choosing the professional modeling airbrush kit airbrush gun pen is essential to achieve fine-finish spray effects, especially for automotive painting and body art. Professional styling airbrush sets usually come with different sized nozzles (e.g. 0.3mm, 0.5mm, and 0.8mm). Here's how to use these nozzle sizes and airbrush sets to achieve the fine-finish spray effects:
1. Choose the right nozzle size
0.3mm nozzle (fine spray, fine details):
Applicable scenarios: very suitable for spraying tasks that require high precision and details. For example, drawing complex patterns or small modifications in car body art.
Applicable coatings: suitable for coatings with low viscosity and good fluidity, such as fine coatings, artistic coatings, and fine paints.
0.5mm nozzle (medium spray, uniform coverage):
Applicable scenarios: suitable for medium-precision applications in car body painting, especially for uniform spraying of large surfaces, such as the main coating of the car exterior, primer spraying, etc.
Applicable coatings: suitable for coatings with medium viscosity, such as car primer, varnish, etc.
0.8mm nozzle (coarse spray, fast coverage):
Applicable scenarios: suitable for spraying tasks that require fast coverage of large areas. For example, the primer coating or varnish coating of the car body, especially some simple coating spraying.
Applicable coatings: suitable for coatings with higher viscosity, such as thick primer, varnish, etc.
2. Control the spraying pressure and spraying distance
Spraying pressure: Control the fineness of the spraying effect by adjusting the air pressure of the spray gun. Lower pressures produce a more delicate and soft spraying effect, while higher pressures are suitable for spraying larger areas.
Detail spraying (0.3mm nozzle): Use lower pressure (about 10-15 psi) to obtain an even, delicate coating. Large area spraying (0.8mm nozzle): You can use higher pressure (about 20-30 psi) to ensure fast coating speed and suitable for fast spraying.
Spraying distance: The distance between the spray gun and the car body will affect the accuracy of spraying. For fine patterns and details, keep the spray gun about 5-10 cm away from the car body surface. For large area spraying, you can increase the distance appropriately (about 15-20 cm) to avoid too much concentration of paint, resulting in uneven coating.
3. Master the spraying skills
Whether spraying details or large areas, it is very important to keep the spray gun stable and move smoothly. Make sure that the hand movements are even and steady to avoid uneven coating or dripping when spraying.
4. Paint preparation and mixing
Before using the spray gun, make sure the viscosity of the paint is moderate. Too thick a coating can clog the nozzle, while too thin a coating can affect the spray's coverage. The viscosity of the coating can be adjusted with a thinner as needed.
Coating Mixing: Make sure the coating is mixed evenly to avoid precipitation, bubbles, or inconsistent colors.
5. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regularly clean the spray gun: After spraying, clean the spray gun in time, especially the nozzle part, to prevent clogging caused by coating residue. Regular maintenance ensures that the performance of the spray gun continues to be stable.
Use the appropriate cleaning solvent: Depending on the type of coating used (such as solvent-based or water-based coatings), use the appropriate cleaning solvent to thoroughly clean the spray gun and keep the nozzle unobstructed.
